The magnificent Mariinsky Theater

A trip to St. Petersburg is certainly enriched with a visit to the famous Mariinsky Theater. For over two centuries, this place of music and art has been pleasing the public with unimaginable operas, ballets and music. Join a show or attend one of their festivals and events.

Unforgettable performances
With a history dating back to 1783, this theater has withstood the test of time, bringing great works of art to the people of St. Petersburg for over 200 years. Directed by Valery Gergiev, Mariinsky welcomes you to enjoy ballets such as Swan Lake, listen to operas like Don Giovanni, attend the Mariinsky Orchestras’ performances and more. Famous artists have performed and some even made their beginnings here, including Anna Pavlova, Fyodor Chaliapin, George Balanchine and Mathilde Kschessinska.

Festivals and shows
Each year a number of festivals take place including the famous Music Festival, Stars of the White Nights. This huge event takes place with the help of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and is arguably one of the best music festivals in the world. Initially, Stars of the White Nights was a three day long festival, however its popularity has led it to endure three months. The best opera and ballet performances from the theater are chosen to participate, as well as chamber music masterpieces. Famous artists in the industry also perform, such as Anna Netrebko, Susan Foster, Natalie Dessay, Maria Guleghina and Vladamir Galouzine.

When visiting this wonderfully artistic city, you really cannot leave without attending a show or grabbing some snaps of the building itself. After a night at the theater, continue your evening at the lounge bar at Park Inn by Radisson Pribaltiyskaya Hotel. This hotel is immensely spacious and is just ten-minutes outside the city via free shuttle bus.
