The slopes near Sofia make for exciting winter getaways
Sofia is a city that has it all — from exciting city life with plenty of restaurants and shopping opportunities to ski slopes and eco paths just minutes away. Situated in the skirts of Vitosha Mountain, Sofia is the perfect place for a weekend getaway filled with winter sports in the morning and city experiences into the evening.

Slopes and lifts
Whether you're a beginner or a pro, Vitosha offers 15 lifts and 20 kilometers of slopes for you to enjoy with elevations ranging from 1,340 to 2,290. The resort has 18 kilometers of runs for beginners and intermediate skiers, but it also provides great opportunities for more advanced skiers and free riders. 

Operating times
The winter sports equipment is available from 10 Dec to 02 Apr 2017, and the resort opens from 9:00 to 16:00. Hours are subject to change due to external conditions. 

If you are a fan of night skiing and beautiful views, Vitosha is the right place for you. The slopes are open from 18:30 to 22:00, giving visitors the opportunity to ski and snowboard while enjoying views of the beautiful city of Sofia.

Lift cars, ski schools, private lessons and wardrobes are available at Aleko Ski Zone. Re-energize at the large mountain hut with a self-service restaurant. 

The slopes are approximately 20 kilometers away from the center of Sofia and can be reached by car or public transport. The Dragalevtsi lift is located less than 20 minutes away from Park Inn by Radisson Sofia and is easily accessible by car.

There are several buses you can take to get to Vitosha Mountain:
  • Bus 66 route starts at Hladilnika Bus Terminal and takes you to Aleko area, which is as high as you can get with public transport. The name of the last stop is “Hotel Moreni.”
  • Bus 122 takes you to Simeonovo gondola lift. Its starting point is Gotse Delchev district.
  • Bus 93’s 1st stop is also Gotse Delchev district, and the bus can take you to the Dragalevtsi chairlift.
