Tivoli Gardens

Tivoli Gardens amusement park in Copenhagen is a must for all visitors of the city, young and old. It is located just a few minutes’ walk from the City Hall, and with Copenhagen Central Station as its nearest neighbor, it is very easy to get to.

Tivoli was founded in 1843 and has become a national treasure and an international attraction. A visit to the city is not complete without a visit here. Within the park, the scenery is beautiful with exotic architecture, historic buildings, lush gardens and vibrant flowers. At night, thousands of colored lights create a fairytale atmosphere that is completely unique. Follow the walking trails and keep your eyes alert for all the sights that will unravel before you, from the Chinese-inspired Bamboo forest and the Japanese Gardens to the Hanging Gardens.

Feel the adrenaline rush

Step away from the tranquility of the nature trails and check out the rides for the ultimate adrenaline rush. Some rides are wonderfully nostalgic, whilst others will match the expectations of the keenest thrill seekers. One such ride is the Vertigo, which will turn you upside down at 100 kilometers per hour and was voted Europe’s Best Ride in 2014. Tivoli’s oldest and most popular ride, the wooden roller coaster from 1914, is one of only seven roller coasters worldwide which have a brakeman on board every train.

Discover the changing seasons

The park changes with every season offering different delights. Every autumn, Tivoli is transformed into an enchanted Halloween universe full of witches, pumpkins and lanterns. During this time, it is filled with family-friendly activities from pumpkin hunts to Halloween stalls selling witch punch and homemade treats.

The biggest transformation though has to be from mid-November to January when the Tivoli Gardens dress for Christmas, hosting the most magical Christmas universe full of fairy lights and sparkle. The park also hosts a traditional Christmas market with over 60 charming stalls selling anything from knitwear, handcrafts and edible treats. Whatever time of year you visit Copenhagen, Tivoli should be on the top of your to-do list. From the Park Inn by Radisson Copenhagen Airport Hotel, the city center and Tivoli are less than 15 minutes away.
