The Messe München International
The city of Munich can look back at over 100 years of trade tradition. The history of Messe München International MMI starts in 1908 with the opening of an exhibition park at Theresienhöhe in the occasion of the city’s 750 year anniversary. Since then the exhibition activities had a steady growth and the fundament for international trade fairs such as BAU, Bauma, Transport Logistic and ISPO was laid.
To meet the increasing demands, the fairgrounds was expanded with 17 exhibition halls with 44,000 square feet of space at 20 exhibition halls and four pavilions with 110,000 square feet of space. In 1998 Messe München International MMI moved to the new city district Riem, which was built on a former airport site. Together with the International Congress Center Munich ICM and the MOC Event Centre Munich this gave a total of over 470 000 square feet of space for exhibitions, symposia, conferences and exhibitions.
Munich trade fairs
With 40 trade fairs and over 30 000 exhibitors the Messe München International MMI is one of the largest exhibition companies. More than two million visitors annually find their way to their events. Among the most important trade fairs in Munich it’s worth mentioning the ISPO for sports products, Drinktec for beverage- and liquid food technology, BAU and Bauma for building and construction industries, Electronica for electronics and Intersolar for the solar industry.
With the new Messe München and the new city district, Munich East has a lot to offer. Are you going to a trade fair in the area, make sure to set aside some time to explore also the surrounding area. In 2005 the Bundesgartenschau, also known as BUGA, a large horticulture show was held here. The beautiful park- and garden area remained and has been well kept ever since.
