History and culture enthrall visitors to Lund
A charming city with a 1,000-year-old history, Lund was founded by the Danes and was the centre of religious, political and cultural life for all of Scandinavia for more than 500 years. In addition to its well-preserved medieval streets and houses, Lund boasts several must-see attractions, including Domkyrkan, the majestic cathedral which houses a massive astronomical clock. Visitors marvel each afternoon as the clock's wooden figures spring to life when the timepiece strikes. Lund is also home to the Lund Institute of Technology and Lund University, founded in 1666. The vitality and youth of the student population only adds to the city's vibrancy.
