In 2013, the Landestheater Linz was granted its new, long-awaited location: the Musiktheater am Volksgarten. It is now the home of the opera and operetta, ballet, the newly established musical section, and the Bruckner Orchestra Linz. As the most state-of-the-art opera house in Europe, designed by London architect Terry Pawson with its new technical, architectural and ecological properties as well as remarkable audience comfort, the Linz Music Theater signals the dawning of a new cultural era.
Linz’s new Musiktheater at the Volksgarten includes all sorts of performance highlights: Philip Glass composed the opera Spuren der Verirrten (Traces of the Lost), its text written by Peter Handke especially for the opening of the new theater. Featuring Mozart’s Magic Flute, Johann Strauss' The Bat and Richard Strauss' The Knight of the Rose, the 1st season has a very diverse programme in store.
